Anyone have a trash can that's relatively mold resistant that you love? It's for the kitchen. We have a 13 gallon pretty standard white plastic trash can. It just gets covered in mold so quickly.

No, but I figured out what is causing most of my problem... throwing food in it that is still hot... creates condensation and mold way too fast.

I never throw hot food in there. DH has a thing about that, so I don't do it. We have a pretty moist house though.

Do you think you could try taking out the trash every night and putting in the bag the next morning so it can air out over night?

Where is the mold forming? Are you using a bag?

I have only ever had mold grow in my garbage can if food accidentally falls between behind the bag and directly in the can. :think

If it is plastic at this point the mold might be in the plastic itself. How are you cleaning it?

We are using a bag. The mold forms under the lid and on the bottom.

Can you put it under the sink and not put a lid on it?
