View Full Version : Teach Me About Bone Broth Please?

I keep hearing that bone broth is great... and my specific interest in it is that it is supposed to be good for dental health. I have a cavity that I'm supposed to get filled (was filled last year but it turns out that they didn't get it all because it was so far down) and I'd rather not as it's in a place that they will have to use gold, which will be crazy expensive... not to mention I prefer to avoid unnecessary procedures if there is an easier way to solve it.
My mom cooked a turkey yesterday and I saved the bones etc. The liquid we saved from the bottom of the turkey turned completely gelatinous by today. Is this considered bone broth? Can I take the bones from an already cooked turkey and then cook them the same way one would cook them to make soup, and that is the bone broth? Or has the "bone broth" already been made by cooking the turkey and it is the brown jelly that has already been saved?
And what are all the benefits of bone broth again? Are there certain things it is especially helpful for? How often should one try to consume it?
Thanks! So confused! I looked in my Nourishing Traditions book and couldn't seem to get the answers to my specific questions!

I did not find that it helped with my cavities, but it did help with raising my iron when I was doing beef/lamb bone broth alternating with turkey/chicken.
