How do you tell? Charlotte has incredibly dry skin everywhere. It's winter and the furnace is on all the time. She's all chapped from head to toe.

Is it white and scaly/flaky or red? Hard to tell if she's scratched it open though. IME, dry skin usually improves with regular lotion or coconut oil. Eczema often persists despite great skin care routines.

I've been running a humidifier at night near DD2 bc her eczema doesn't like the dry furnace air. You can also try a bath and then immediately slather her with whatever lotion you use.

:think it's red and flaky. She's not scratching.

I guess the thing is, the treatment is similar unless you want to try steroid creams or try to track down a food or environmental trigger.

The standard advice for eczema is a warm (not hot) daily bath followed immediately by a thick cream. Some people have better success avoiding bathing. Avoid harsh soaps (I don't use any on Penny). But none of that hurts if it's just dry skin.

What do you use on/do for her skin currently (if anything)?

Coconut oil and Shea butter. But I thought we were out so nothing for a couple months. Then lotion (a Burt's bees one) for a bit when the snow hit. I found more I'd forgotten so I'm using it again now.

Oh, another tip is to do bath, lotion, and then footie PJs so that it will help the lotion soak into the skin all night.

You can also try Vaseline or for a more natural option, albas unpetroleum jelly, over the lotion or coconut oil.

We do coconut oil morning and night.

Have you changed detergents, dryer sheets, or soaps lately?

We avoid bathing excepts once a week ...warm bath and slather. We also run humidifer at night. Dd2 has been out in the cold the past few days and her little wrists are raw and bloody. :(

#1 thing that has changed is she hasn't been taking her efa supplement the past several weeks (our extras got lost in the move) this is the first time she has had any smidge of exzema since we went df and got her on efas. We round them again today and I am going to be pushing them hard for the next few days her little wrists :shiver.

So, extra good fat supplementing seems to help here. :shrug3

No change in anything. Just the weather and heat being on
