So I am making tilapia for dinner. Its and herb crusted dish. I didn't realize I didn't have Parmesan cheese for the crust.

I can

A. skip the cheese (boo!)
B. run to the store between now & dinner (erg!)
C. OTHER?

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Go to the store. Or make blackened tilapia, or cook it in soy sauce and butter.

Do you have mozarella cheese? Any other cheese?

What herbs do you have? Do you have lemon and garlic? I'd skip the cheese. Mix breadcrumbs, garlic, lemon, herbs (basil and oregano, fresh is tastier), salt and olive oil or butter. Mix to a paste. Smear on top, bake.

Swap the cheese for breadcrumbs. Taste the breading to see if it needs extra herbs or salt to compensate for the lost flavor of the cheese.

Yes! I have lots of cheese including mozzarella. I also have cheddar & colby jack & swiss. I didnt think any of those would be a really good substitute for Parmesan. Can mozzerella?

Fazoli's drive-thru?

:snooty (we don't like Fazoli's) or you mean just for the parmesan? The grocery store is closer than Fazoli's.

A bunch. Thats what I was thinking - how much will I miss the cheese? I have all those ingredients - could just add more herbs. No fresh ones - except for the lemon & garlic are fresh.

I can make breadcrumbs (and was planning on it to mix with the P cheese). :yes

:no I wouldn't sub any of those cheeses for Parmesan. Maybe if you had Asiago or Romano, but not the softer cheeses. I like Iszj's suggestion. :tu
