So as I am wrecking my house searching for my keys and a my reciet for my secuirty deposit. My five year old exclaims that the kitchen floor is wet. This usally means somene is playing the in tub...I yell up the stairs get out of the tub. I hear a reply no ones in the tub. As I enter the kitchen. I gasp.. almost 2 inches of water is covering my floor. The washer has been spilling out on to the floor. The drain house had gotten knocked out of the pipe. I grab towels.. but its hopeless...I start pilling clothes on the water... I touch the washer as I'm doing this and it zaps me...so I know it needs to be turned off asap...I stupidly try to turnn it off...and get zapped again.... I spot a hat and use that amd turn it off.....
Now i have a floor full of wet clothes and no idea if I just killed the washer...

Try to go flip the breaker that runs the washer, to OFF, before you go anywhere near that water or washer.

I was going to say that I if it happens again don't try to turn it off, just go flip the breaker instead.

I don't have access to the breakers.

Where are they then?

I would get the landlord. I have never heard if a shock from a washer though. But, it seems like it could travel through the water at this point and that is really bad.

I don't have access to the breakers.

I'm pretty sure that is illegal. I've never been in a home or apartment where I didn't have access to the breaker box.

How scary! Glad you're ok and hope nothing is seriously wrong with the washer.

The breakers are in the basement which only the store has access too. Of they had been open they would let me go to the breakers.

You should ask the store about that. Perhaps the fire department has a key. I'm sure the store doesn't want you to catch fire in the building. (awkward grammar intended)

Friends came over and helped me secure the washer. Its back in working order. Ya.

Future reference, though, you should have either access to that panel, or a landlord/store owner to call after hours.
