Carotidynia? "Ear" pain between jaw bone and skull?

I'm not sure it's even a real diagnosis. But several times a month, I wake up to inner ear pain and pain in the area that seems to be in an area where the joint of my jaw and skull meet but don't quite join.

I was googling to see if its some sort of ear infection before trying garlic oil.

Any suggestions?

Do you mean at your TM joint? Pain there often feels like ear pain. Maube hou ench or jaw or grind your teeth in your sleep?

TMJ. Horrible ear pain is how I was diagnosed with it. You probably grind or clench your teeth. I remember when the dentist told me that when my mouth is shut my teeth shouldn't touch. I didn't even think that was possible. I clenched my teeth all day and night and never realized it.

Its kind of next to the joint.

I do clench my teeth but I also sleep open mouthed most of the time. Maybe that is it though b/c yesterday was stressful.
