Ive tried doing a few small projects out of old t-shirts and as they run through my machine they strech and pull and get generally messed up.

Does anyone have any tips to make this more successful? I dont know anything about changing the needles and Im wondering it a different needle could fix the problem. :think If so, what needle?

Yes, you need a ballpoint needle for Tshirt material.

Do sewing machine needles fit all makes/models universally? Like if I got to the store and buy the ballpoint needle will it be sure to fit my Brother machine? I've never had to buy my own needles before 'cus I've always used somebody else's machine or had enough spares with my machine that I never had to... :bag

Fabric stabilizer (http://www.sulky.com/stabilizers/index_stabilizers.php) and a zigzag stitch will solve your problem. :) You can get stabilizer at Joanns.

humm, that just might help. The things I am making are very small so that might help in a few ways. :think

I'm making t-shirt quilts right now. I use fusible interfacing as Grace suggested to stabilize the fabric before I start assembling the quilt top.

Whatchamakin'? :)

well, the first project I was working on with jersey was baby wipes. Set that aside for now in favor of funner projects. :giggle

Now I'm making itty bitty rag dolls to go inside itty bitty cloth house nativities.:D
