In addition to the ones listed above:

real maple syrup
instant oatmeal packets
produce
hummus
dishwashing soap
peanut butter
frozen berries
marinara sauce
salsa, salsa & more salsa
deli pickles (when they have them)
bouquet of flowers for my table :heart

They also have amazing things that I rarely buy like Nutella & artichoke parmesan dip.

---------- Post added at 10:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:25 AM ----------

I forgot to say almond milk, nitrate/nitrite free lunchmeat, organic chicken, organic ground beef.

I don't buy these things, but I know a lot of people buy milk, eggs, bakery muffins, diapers, shampoo/conditioner, prescriptions, vitamins, chips/candy, bagels, frozen dinners, frozen meat. They also sell Odwalla juices, VitaMixes & dyson vacuums. I love Costco.

I go to Costco about once every two months, as we live away from one. When we go, we tend to buy a lot of stuff. I bring two coolers, and drag it all home.

*Always* on my list:
raw almonds
natural peanut butter
natural almond butter
real maple syrup
egg whites
cottage cheese
greek yogurt
whole bean coffee, Kirkland brand (roasted by Starbucks)
box of stoned wheat thin crackers
chicken breasts
ground turkey
individual applesauce containers (school lunches)
toilet paper
dry cereal
frozen strawberries
snap peas
cauliflower
baby spinach
bananas
(some produce is worth it, price-wise, some isn't. you need to know your prices locally)
trail mix (especially the one with yogurt chips in it)
quinoa
chia seeds

Less frequent purchases, but still worth it at Costco
olive oil
balsamic vinegar
parmesan cheese
cheese sticks for school lunches
yogurt tubes for school lunches
hand soap to refill bottles
dish soap to refill bottle in kitchen
paper towels
laundry soap
oxyclean
jam
boursin cheese (awesome in eggs or on bbq steak)
cans of garbanzo beans (when on "sale")
dishwasher soap tabs
icing sugar
kids pj's
kids socks
YOGA PANTS!
lara bars
sugar free Trident
Contigo water bottles/coffee mugs/kids cups
printer ink

That would explain why my cart is always full :bag

Don't forget GAS!

musicmama

Pretty much everything :shifty

I really love all their sort of "easy" meals, like the chicken apple sausage (no msg, gluten free, corn free, nitrate free), teriyaki meatballs, madras lentils, their soups are soooooooooooo good, pineapple bacon sausage (same brand as the chicken apple, aidells?) their potstickers are sooo good, too. And they have all kinds of raviolis and stuff that are fresh and delicious.

We probably do 90% of our grocery shopping there, but we have extenuating circumstances that make it easy to do that, too :lol

---------- Post added at 02:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:51 PM ----------

And seriously, the kirkland bacon is the best. No REALLY, it's the best! My husband said they spent like 40 mins in a marketing meeting once just talking about the bacon :lol It's like center cut of the center cut, and here it's only $2.97/lb. A POUND, not a package, the packages at the grocery store are usually only 10-12oz, and they're usually $3 a package on SALE, and that's not even a whole pound!

And let's not forget their amazing return policy. no receipt? no box? ate a few and didn't like them? they'll take anything back :lol

---------- Post added at 02:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:54 PM ----------

oh, and we're total coffee snobs and their already ground big can of Columbian coffee is REALLY good. And it's like $4.97/lb

toilet paper
baking soda
vinegar
peroxide

granola bars, clif bars
parmesan
shredded cheese, chunk cheese
graham crackers

their fruit is usually good.
meats (chicken, ground beef)

frozen strawberries for smoothies

Their snack bar makes a really good pizza.

lots more, those are just the quick few off the otp of my head

I'm very jealous, I've been hoping to find these at ours, all they have is cliff and Kashi which have allergens for us. My kids eat so many Larabars too!!

Kristen, I don't go often (like once a year). Do they have lots of natural meats and things up here too?

Is a membership worth it if you only have two kids and don't do tons of packaged foods? like, would I save on my meats? I normally buy my meat at Save On Foods, the ground beef I get is $ten per kg or so, so about $5 a meal

(these are west coast canada prices)

mamaKristin
11-18-2012, 02:54 PM
I haven't looked too much at the meats, to be honest.

I don't buy a lot of prepackaged food...not stuff that is "Quick", you know? I tend to come home with lots of ingredients, or so laments my DH. :giggle I have found that on some of my "regular" items, specifically coffee, olive oil, and maple syrup, I pay for my membership. Other items are a bonus. Seriously, the coffee I buy is $12 for a 2.5 lb bag. The equivalent size would run about $25+ at least here. We go through a bag in less than a month, so we're saving at least $13 a bag, times 14 to 17.

I'm not in the USA or Canada, so I have no idea how the range at our Costco measures up. But my must-haves are:

* Disposable nappies (yes, I use disposables :blush ) and Kirkland brand wipes
* Laundry soaker (my preferred brand is a full $6 cheaper per 3 kg bucket than the supermarket)
* organic rump steak
* organic chicken breasts
* a particular brand of Lavosh cracker that I adore
* snack foods for when visitors come to town
* and some of their seasonal specials, like an enormous teddy bear for DD, just "because" :D

I'd buy TP if I had space to store 60 rolls in my apartment. I don't buy produce, because I've found a better range and prices at my local farmer's market.

Oooh, that sounds interesting. Which brand is grain free?

3PeasInAPod
11-18-2012, 07:31 PM
Nature's Domain. the red (turkey) or blue (salmon) bag. It's like $35. Sometimes they only carry one or the other - but I asked mine to start carrying Turkey too b/c they only had the salmon - so they did!

It's not as high quality as say Taste of the Wild (they still put a lot of potato in there) however, I can't afford the really good stuff.

hey mommy
11-18-2012, 07:35 PM
toilet paper
paper towels
baby wipes
hamburger(organic if i can afford it)
frozen chicken
cheese
chicken nuggets
refried beans
green juice(uh, Odwalla Superfood)
bread
peanut butter(before the recall. The Kirkland organic pb was really good)
cereal

anything else that sounds good as I walk the aisles.

All of you have forgotten one of the best things to get at Costco.

Their churros. :yum

Oh, and all their spices, the veggie spring rolls, they have some MorningStar stuff and their avocados have treated us well (even though sometimes I can still find them at Aldi's for cheaper), and their churros.
