Hey ladies!

Im posting for a friend who needs some ideas for what may be going on with her 2.5yo.

He keeps getting these rashes that she says started like a diaper rash but expanded over his body. Red, bumpy rash.

First dr. appt they said is was eczema and prescribed a topical cream and oral steroids. It cleared it up most of the skin rash but now he is left with his diaper rash still.

They took him back in today and now they say it is an allergic reaction and prescribed him benadryl orally at night, topical benadryl two times a day AND antibacterial ointment 2-3 times a day.

She is feeling like that is A LOT for him and is not sure what to think if these diagnoses.

Any ideas?

Her exact message about describing the rash...

Yeah, it's only in his diaper area, on his lower belly, and right above his privates looks like tiny red spots that are not bumpy.THen on his cheeks there's raised bumps that have white heads. It's like three different rashes.

Has he had any vaccines recently? My DS2 had a rash outbreak similar to that after his 2 month round, and after receiving a single vaccine at 12 months.

:think It's hard to say without seeing it. But my suggestion would be to take him to a dermatologist (instead of a regular doctor). We've had so many skin things be mistreated and/or mis-diagnosed by doctors who don't know much about skin. But recently we started seeing a dermatoligist which has been great.

Hi Ladies! My name is Stephanie and I'm Codi's friend with the 2.5 year old with the rash. Ill write out his whole story for you so maybe you can get a better idea about whats going on!!
Ok, hes had a diaper and skin rash for about a month and a half now. It first started out as a tiny rash on his butt cheeks from the cloth diapers he was wearing (i think) which i was treating with cream. Then one afternoon he all of a sudden broke out in a rash all over his body. It was just tiny red dots, not raised or anything and he just looked red and bit swollen. I took him to the ER and they told me it was just a viral rash that needs to run its course. So after a few days or so the redness went down, but his skin still had red small spots on it. Then his diaper rash got REALLY bad. Super red and bumpy on his cheeks and above his man parts. Took him to his pedi and she said it looks like yeast. So we used a antifungal cream and it started to go away. Then like a week later it came back full force and his skin turned from tiny red spot to raised itchy bumps that my poor guy was itching so bad he started to bleed on his lower neck area, back and tummy. So we took him to a new doc and she perscribed him a cream that made his skin rash go away! But his diaper rash stayed. His diaper rash now looks like tiny red spots that are not raised on his lower tummy and right above his man parts, then on his cheeks its red with raised patches of bumps, and then on his butt crack and lower back there what looks like pimples with white heads. Its like he has 3 different diaper rashes :( The rest of his skin is all clear from rash but it now feel very dry and rough. Anyone have any idea what my poor baby is going through? The new pedi also brought up food allergies, but hes never had a problem with that before and hes pretty much eaten the same food. (VERY picky eater). Im just at my wits end with this rash. We took him to the doc again today and she prescribed benydryl at night, topical benydryl 2x a day (she thinks hes having an allergic reaction cause of the tiny red spots on his lower tummy and above his parts) and a antibacterial cream 2x a day for the white head looking bumps. I feel like that is WAYYY to many meds. Im just not sure what to do anymore :( Oh and he has not had any new vaccines recently! Last ones were at his 2 year appointment. Thank you for the advice! :)

The white head things sound like staph, and the abx cream would make sense.
