Is this the right place for this?

I really want to see people's tables. I'm really wanting ti start doing them, and want to get some ideas. :)

Oo oo oo! I :heart our season table it's a little neglected at the moment. Do you just want to see current tables? Or all seasons?

This link *should* take you to my photobucket album of pics :fingerscrossed

Link deleted because it's a public forum, but if you need to see them again, I'll PM you the link :)

ETA - I have no idea why they are in that order or why there are some duplicates :scratch

I love your wooden stacking toys! Where did you get your wooden nesting nativity? Those all look really nice! I like the little homemade things thrown in too (I'm assuming they are T's crafts?)

Thanks for sharing. :heart

We got that from Birmingham Christmas Market so I guess it originated in germany somewhere :giggle You can get them in various places though; I think I've seen some on etsy, and a lot of waldorfy online toyshops have them :)

Most of those are T's crafts but some of them are mine :)

When you have your table set up, do you allow him to play with anything on it, or is it just for looks?

We try to keep it play-friendly. We've gradually worked on respect and gentle hands for things on the table. When he was younger, the table was slightly out of his reach and but low enough that he could look. As he's grown, we've worked on it and now he understands that he can play/move things around but he must be gentle and anything that gets removed must be put back. He loves collecting things for the table; it's rare that we come back from an outing without some sticks/leaves/daisies. He also likes looking for cheap vases/saucers in the charity shops :)

Okay. That's what I want. I want the kids to be able to play with the things on the table. :) Thanks for all your input. Hopefully more will come share their pictures too. :)

I just started sort of doing a table. We have a low chest in the living room to set up on top of. Right now, and probably for the rest of summer, it's a beach scene sort of. I have a yellow playsilk laying across half of it for sand and then some varigated blue roving on the other side for water. There are a few giant pine cones on the beach side for trees and on the wall above the table is a big rainbow we painted. I've had to stop myself from buying/making cute figures and stuff and going overboard from the get-go and hoping to let it be more as something that develops over time with G's involvement. He's not quite into collecting things from outside yet, so it's more me. A few sea creatures play on the water half some times and we have little wooden peg people (that aren't dressed yet) that sometimes set up camp on the beach.

Here's my first attempt. I think I like it. It's simple, but pretty at the same time. I has a grassy hill with animals and tree stumps. A stone path leading to a pond with water animals, more stumps, and sticks, berries and clippings from our yard. A sky and a sun that DD made this morning. :)

What do you think? Does it look summery?

I've been doing a seasonal table for a few years. Since we moved here (Nov) the boys have been interested in it also and bring all sorts of goodies in - snail shells, leaves, feathers. DH also finds wonderful little goodies such as mudwasp nests, paper wasp nests, birds nests.

This is mine at the moment, Summer with a hint of Anthony Gormley (since we saw an installation of his recently). Below are from a bit earlier in the Summer...

The stackers on ours came from Myriad in England. Toy Spectrum (which I think is a site in Germany) have them, but they are Grimm's Spiel und Holtz range if that helps you to track them down. :heart

The girls play with and rearrange our table (shelf), but we have it up out of baby reach. They put things they have made on, and I have a box of decorations, and then we use lots of their wooden animals and other toys too. I like to have different levels, which I make by putting small boxes under the play silks. :)

We need to change ours over to autumn. Been meaning to do it for days but life keeps getting in the way :sigh

If you have time to go for a walk today, some cherry and all the sycamore leaves are gorgeous around here. We have had almost no conkers though! We always do the change over on cues from outside, so taking a walk to see the changes outside really gets us in the mood - and plus you might collect some beautiful leaves. :) xxx
