Dyeing cotton cloth (immersion method)

I'm looking at the Dharma site for fiber reactive dyes to use on a 9'x12' cotton drop cloth, which my DH will then use to upholster this easy-to-build couch that he plans to make for our livingroom http://ana-white.com/2010/11/build-your-own-storage-sofa.html

I'm so excited about getting to pick exactly what color I want my couch to be! :heart Any tips on getting started? I know, practice on a million cotton hankies before I dye the big cloth for the couch... :giggle What else? :popcorn

iDye and a load of laundry. :shrug3 Unless the cotton hankies are the same weight/weave and fibre treatment as the drop cloth, they may not give identical results. Similar, but not identical.
