Yarn for Baby Toys

When you knit/crochet baby toys how concerned are you about the contents of the dyes in the yarn? Have you found yarns with dyes that don't contain heavy metals?

Wouldn't cotton yarns the safe? Maybe you'd have to go all organic to make sure it's completely safe. That gets a little pricey though.

There are some colour-grown cottons available, but they come in very pale tones (go figure, right?)

If you want bright, I haven't found a way to avoid toxic dyes. Although I guess you could dye your own with Kool-Aid, it would at least be food-grade...

Unfortunately even if the cotton is organic it doesn't mean they used a decent dye. One of my friends found some decent colors that I'll link when I'm not on my phone.
