I found a pattern for some tops I'd like to make for spring and summer. One of the fabrics suggested is laundered cotton. All I've found online appears to indicate that really it is just cotton that has been laundered until it achieves that blissful state of drapey softness. Does anyone know how to achieve that quickly? If I buy a cotton that I like am I going to have to launder it 10 times before working with it to achieve the drape that I want? Because it appears impossible to buy cotton fabric with that beautiful softness and I really don't want to use rayon which makes me sweat in summertime.

can you link the pattern? I'm thinking something like chambray might work.

Ah-ha! Voile sounds like it might be what I am looking for! Looks like I may have to order online though, because I've never seen the lighter weight cottons in any of the stores around here.
