Poinsettia cookies

My ds is downstairs making these cookies for a Spanish class Christmas party. I hope his friends appreciate all the hard work he has put into them. His baking skills are impressive, if I do say so myself.

Those are so fun! Like pinwheels!! Do you know how the red sugar is made? Maybe just with regular food dye? (Sorry if that's a silly question!) I've got to make these. DN and DN will love them :)

I'm sure it's just red food coloring with large crystal sugar. We bought it already made.
