I came up with a Christmasy hit here this morning. My pregnant gut is happy, happy, too, and my blood sugar level is totally intact and unscathed. :dance

And I'm no longer craving ice cream. :giggle :shifty The kids liked it, too. :tu

Here goes!

Mint Chocolate Smoothie

3/4 Cup plain organic yogurt, kefir or greek yogurt

3 level scoops natural whey protein (you could use hemp, too, it's just a little grainier..several egg yolks would also do the trick)

1 C frozen mango chunks or frozen peaches

1/4 C of pureed prunes or 1 banana or half an avocado

1/2 C coconut milk (with the fat in! :yum)

2TB freshly ground flax (optional)

1 generous splash of liquid mint chlorophyll (you know, the kind that's always cheaper than the plain kind at vitacost? :haha Alternatively, you could use some mint springs)

2 larged deveined leaves of kale or a big handful of spinach

2 TB cacao or cocoa powder (you could use carob, but my kids hate it :giggle)

1 TB gluten free (or not) vanilla or leftover vanilla bean seed scrapings

I didn't add any sweetener and it was fantastic, but if you must add something, a little honey would do the trick. :kiss

Blend forever. This is important. Nobody likes plant chunks in their smoothie. :snooty

ENJOY!! :yum :giggle Not just guilt-free, but *awesome* for your bods. You've got good EFAs, you've got potassium, you're protein-heavy, you're packed with vitamins, you've got your good gut bacteria, you've got healthy carbs, you've got some theobromine, you've got good blood-builders....

I woke up today feeling like a walking infomercial. :shifty :giggle

Post your favorite smoothie recipe? It's fun to see what other people enjoy, just to shake up the routine a little (pun intended). :popcorn This pregnant lady is continuously hungry. :shifty

I think you meant egg whites above...not yolks since all the protein is in the Whites and all the Fat is in the Yolks ;)

:doh I do like it for the fat. Blame it on placenta brain. Heck, dump the whole egg in there. :shifty

This sounds like something my youngest daughter would really love! I daresay the other children, my husband and I may enjoy it too, so thanks for sharing! I might have to try it out in the future.

This sounds super yummy! I wish I would have seen this when I was pregnant- would have helped with taking chlorophyll for sure

My morning smoothie that I have for breakfast every day:

1 c. almond milk
1 1/2 frozen bananas
1-2 tbsp peanut butter
handful of spinach
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp flax seeds

Another one:

1 c. pineapple juice
1 frozen mango
chunks of frozen pineapple
handful of spinach or kale
juice of 1-2 limes

(it's all green from the spinach but it looks like it's green from the lime :) )
