I want to make something Christmas-y for a party, but I am signed up to bring a cake. I usually make a chocolate peppermint cake, but I kind of want to make something different. Different flavors, but still Christmas-y or Winter-y looking.
Last year, I made a peppermint mocha cake, thinking it would be different, and it was a little, since the filling was a coffee flavored chocolate instead of peppermint cream, but it was still pretty much the same.

What are some other flavors that might look/feel Christmas-y?
I want it to look nice, too.

Coconut cake (http://www.joyofbaking.com/CoconutCake.html)

The coconut looks like snow and it looks divine. :yum

What about an iced chocolate or red velvet cake with pirouette cookies edging the outside of the cake, then tied with a festive Christmas bow? Or tiramisu cake (http://smittenkitchen.com/2007/11/tiramisu-cake/) - I used to make this a lot for my boss who was a huge tiramisu fan and it got rave reviews.

Here (http://www.myrecipes.com/holidays-and-occasions/christmas-recipes/best-christmas-cakes-00420000007150/all.html) is a link with some additional ideas. I think the chocolate-gingerbread-toffee cake and the cranberry obsession snow cake look great!

My husband makes eggnog cake every year. It usually disappears at gatherings.
