We have ended up with a few creme brulee mixes. I've never made it before, and we definitely don't have "small oven-safe dishes" to put it in. Can it be just poured into a pie crust and done that way? Giant creme brulee?

You can do it in any oven safe dish if you have enough custard. To me it would be too rich in a crust.

I agree. What kind of dishes do you have? I've made small custards and things in teacups.

The only oven-safe dishes I have are actual baking dishes. All the teacups/bowls that we used to have that were oven-safe have been broken over the years.

I am curious what is in a creme brulee mix. They are totally easy to make. Eggs, cream, vanilla. :shifty

Sugar, cornstarch, whey powder, dried egg yolk, cream powder, carrageenan, milk powder, flavor, two phosphates, beta carotene color.

Not the most healthy, but it was given to us, and I think the kids would enjoy making it.

Okay, I'm going to say that it won't be too rich. I'd pour it in a graham cracker crust, maybe topped with whipped cream or even some fresh fruit, and call it delish. :) It's not as heavy as an egg custard and people eat those in crusts all the time.

Just realized that you need to bake it though, don't you? I still think it'll be fine in a regular pie crust :shrug

I'll try it out soon and tell you how it went.
