Gizmo is a rat I have had for a while. Super sweet. Super hard to get a pic of though, so here are a few bad ones. :)

Wow he's big. I've had pet rats before I would like to get more someday. I like to keep females though. Anyways I think they are adorable and makes me want to go get a pair right now.

i've never had rats so forgive me if i'm way off base, or if you already know this or it doesn't apply.....but guinea pigs are not supposed to have cedar (particularly red cedar!) shavings because those are toxic to them.....not sure if rats are the same way or not? i just keep thinking that, and if it helps....:shrug2

Thanks for sharing! It helps to *see* Gizmo all sweet & snuggled with you, although I still have trepidation about getting our own pair. I think it's the tail. :shiver

We had rats before we had babies. They were very cute, very sweet, very fun, and we only lost one once. I may do it again when Scooby is big enough to not be climbing on top of the cage/knocking it over/producing dirty diapers for me to clean up. :lol We had females. I've heard males are more calm and cuddly!
