Last year my garden was a handful of rubbermaid totes with dirt in them. We moved in May, so I planted my garden, then moved it to the new house. I think I transplanted things like 3 times, too. :doh Needless to say, the garden was not exactly a huge success. :lol

So, I'm rather proud of this year's garden (understandably, I think). Yes, it's mostly squash (the starts were free), but hey, we eat squash, and it freezes, too.

Wide angle shot of the whole garden:

Purple basil that I nursed back from being completely eaten:

Cucumbers (more free starts because they were too old):

Squash flowers (tried to get all artsy-fartsy with them, but the bees were swarming me):

Some tomatoes (forgot to get a shot of all of them :doh):

Grapes!

You totally need to do some greek food with those massive grape leaves! ;)

Love the garden. :heart

Ditto BlessedBlue... gorgeous grapes! They look like they need some fertilizer (dark veins), but other than that... wow! :)

The grapes are a "legacy" planting. Meaning that they were already well established when we bought the house. I did prune them some this year, though not enough. There were defunct flower beds below them that were just covered in weeds and stones, so my mom and I cleared that out. I hope to prune some more next winter and actually fertilize now that I can get to them. :tu They do have some sunburned grapes, but considering how little effort I've put into the project, I'm ok with that! :lol

It's mostly squash - I planted nearly 50 poorly-looking squash starts. They didn't all make it. :no Now I've got 8 squash sitting on the counter right now waiting for me to do something about them. ;)

Yeah, I keep thinking about that, but not actually looking up recipes. :doh

BTW - Mom says I'm turning into my Dad. The cucumbers are vining cukes, but I didn't put a trellis up because I didn't know if they'd actually grow. That, and getting out to a store wasn't easy at the time I was planting b/c of the new baby and all. So I'm using pruned grape vines and broken cement blocks to "build" a trellis for the cukes to climb. Hey - it was free material, right? Next year I'll do something proper. ;)

Yep, turning into Dad. :yes The only thing you're lacking is a pair of tinsnips and some scrap vinyl siding to use while cobbling together some invention... ;)

Beautiful! :heart I'm jealous!

you might want to be glad that you don't have to harvest squash from 50 plants! that would be a lot of squash. :giggle

Does it help that I'm using the viny tendril thingies from the grapes and the cukes in place of string to tie the pieces of lattice together? :shifty

Nope. :snooty That's just becoming like me. Dad would have used leftover twine from the lumberyard. :p
