I think it's wild lavender. This is just an empty field (which, at some point, will be turned into a housing development) but I think that digging the whole plant out would be a WEE BIT suspicious! Haha! Can I take a cutting or something to start it in my yard? :shifty

Google "propagate lavendar". Lots of links. :) Sounds like it's primarily done by cuttings, using a root hormone.
