So, what kind of coffeemaker do you have? What do you like/dislike about it? What would be your dream cofeee maker and why? do you think a more expensive maker brews a better cup of coffee?

I have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-47665-BrewStation-Coffeemaker/dp/B000GHLMI6/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1296764783&sr=8-20

I really like it because it has no carafe, it's easy to use and clean, and it makes good coffee (to my standard, anyway :shrug3)

HTH!

Any others have thoughts? I am leaning toward a Kitchen Aid. I see the pod coffee makers in a similar price range, but they feel wasteful to me. I am open to being convinced otherwise, especially if they make the best coffee ever or something. :)

I just got this one for Christmas and so far I like it http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DCC-1150BK-Programmable-Thermal-Coffeemaker/dp/B000TQEDE4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1297006918&sr=1-1

I really like the thermal carafe. I was searching for one a few months ago and someone here (I'm pretty sure it was CantTurnLeft) suggested a thermal carafe because the glass carafe burns your coffee, and I can tell a difference in taste-the thermal carafe tastes better.

French presses do make delicious coffee. I might get one of those, too. But I wanted a regular coffee maker since I make a lot of it and tend to have people over, and tend to brew a pot of coffee whenever we have company.

We use a french press. It cost 6.99 at Marshalls. It takes up no space, makes no wasted coffee and needs no filters. Can't beat the coffee that comes out of it, either.

French press coffee really is the best that I have had. I do have one, but I prefer the convenience of my lazy person's coffee maker. What is your routine for making your coffee? I do sort of miss my pressed coffee. The other day, my filter basket was clogged and the coffee went down really slowly, and it was sooooo good. I was like "Mmmmm, this tastes like pressed coffee!" :yum I love that the press keeps the oils and it is so smooth and full bodied. But, it takes so much longer.
With my coffee maker, my routine is to put my water after I finish doing the after dinner clean up and fill the filter with the grounds. Then, in the AM, I push the button and unload the dishwasher while my coffee drips down right into my insulated cup. When I finish unloading, my cup is all ready! I don't even have to pour it.
When I only had the press, it seemed like a seperate chore to put the coffee in the press, get a pot to boil water, then wait for it to almost-but-not-quite-boil (had to watch it), pour the water in the press (spilling it) then waiting to plunge it (again, trying not to forget about it), then plunging it, then having to pour it in a cup, then having to dump out the grounds and rinse the press.
All I do now is take the filter out and put a new one in, and my cup goes right in the dishwasher when I am done. (I have two cups, so I always have a fresh one waiting.)

My coffee maker now is this one
http://www.cuisinart.com/discontinued/coffee_bar/ttg-500.html

Definitely not gourmet, but so convenient! I got it for 5 dollars at a yard sale in never been used condition.

I am contemplating a coffee pod type for after the baby is born because I am thinking if I can program it, the smell of the coffee will get me out of bed in the AM. But I have such a hard time figuring out which one of those is the best kind to get.

We bought that coffee maker off woot a few months ago. I loved it. The thermal carafe was awesome and kept it hot for so long without burning it. But one day, the coffee filter wasn't in just right, and the coffee overflowed through the filter all over the place. It triggered something in the coffee maker and made it not work. We contacted Cuisinart, and they said that was normal for that coffee maker. They offered to fix it, but we would have had to pay shipping. Woot wouldn't fix it. :mad So I'm hesitant to get another one like that, even though we really liked it.

I love french press coffee. Unfortunately, I never seem to get hot coffee by the time I get to it. So we're shopping for a new coffee maker. I'm thinking about getting a percolator.

I have a French Press, but I'd really like to get an AeroPress (http://www.amazon.com/Aerobie-AeroPress-Coffee-Espresso-Maker/dp/B0047BIWSK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297041236&sr=8-1).

We have a cuisinart with a glass carafe and grinder.

A grinder is a must for me because I think fresh ground tastes much better. I have started adding a paper filter inside the filter that comes with, because of the cholesterol issue.
