My dd and I are just learning to crochet. We've learned single crochet and double crochet and have made some granny squares. I'm looking for a really simple pattern for a hat that we can make. I have a lady who can help us get started, but I need a pattern. Thanks!

I couldn't really see how to get started on ravelry the one time I went there. I signed up but then couldn't figure out how to search effectively, from what I remember.

Those are cute. The granny square one looks kinda hard, but really pretty. I guess it's just a matter of doing it, and asking for help when I need it.

The thing about grannies is that once you do a couple rounds, you have it memorized :yes Don't be afraid to ask for help here, either. :)

I'm a beginner at crochet. I just make spiral hats and I think they are pretty easy. I just do a magic loop with six sc, then increase in those 6 (12), then increase in every other one (18), then increase every third stitch (so sc, sc, increase) then increase in every 4th stitch (sc, sc, sc, inrease) and so forth until I have close to 50 stitches and then I just spiral around without increasing until its as long as I want it to be.

Oh and after all the increases, I like to switch to dc just because it's faster :shifty

Here's a pic of my first one

Those are really cute, and look warm. I'll have to print our those instructions and ask my crocheting friend to tell me what it means exactly. :giggle. I really need someone to show me stuff, I think, for it to make sense. I haven't learned to increase yet.

Increasing just means doing two sc in the same stitch :)

You can dc increase too, MOS ;) That's how I do most of my hats.

I've made two of these hats so far! Thanks! I'm trying to figure out how not to have the little hump at the top, though... maybe increase two, don't increase one in the second round instead of every other? Or more stitches than 6 in the first round?

I really like the granny square hats y'all shared, but I'd forgotten there's glitch in my granny square making, I was doing the transition from one round to the next wrong and am not clear how to switch colors. Anybody have a link to a good bicolor granny square making video? Thanks!
