My DS2 has not had white sugar. I'm making an applesauce cake that I usually frost with this:

Maple Nut Frosting
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup coconut oil, softened
½ cup maple syrup

Any ideas on how to de-sugar it? No dairy, soy or wheat, either :)

:popcorn Date sugar? Or are you looking for no types of sugar at all?

If you are ok with dairy you can take a block of cream cheese and mix with a hand mixer till fluffy and put on cake like that. You can add a little maple to flavor if you want

I don't have date or coconut sugar. I have sucanat, a little agave, maple syrup, stevia.... I'm trying to think what else.

2 options from thespunkycoconut.com

Frosting:
Puree:
2 cups walnuts that have been soaked at least 3 hours, and strained
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp cashew milk

Frosting:
Melt over double boiler:
1.5 bars of 3.2 oz dark chocolate (about 3/4 cup of chocolate chips)
3/4 cup coconut milk

When the chocolate has just barely melted, remove from heat.

Add:
2 tbsp honey
10 drops liquid stevia
2 to 4 tbsp coconut flour, sifted.
Refrigerate until the frosting has cooled, about 15 minutes. (You know it's ready when it is the texture of frosting.)

I've actually made the second one. :yum

I haven't made it yet, but I have two friends who rave about this.

They use powdered sucanat instead of powdered sugar.

So how do they get powdered sucanat? Do they buy it or do they put sucanat in the food processor? Looks yummy! :yum

you can put the sucanat in a blender or coffee grinder.
