mama cat and kittens - photos

Well, mama cat is still a wonderful mama cat, but we have to keep her separate from our other animals or she will attack them. That is a bit of a pain to deal with. So she and kittens have to stay in the hall bathroom most of the time, which is small, and to have them out the dogs have to be outside or in their crates and we have to lock our other cats up in the upstairs bedrooms.
And mama cat and kittens have coccidia - we just got med for that, so I don't want to put them in the master bathroom yet because it has carpet while the small hall bath has tile.
She prefers her freedom (duh) and the kittens are much more active and very friendly.
The mama is nice to people, and I wish she would be nice to our other animals - that would make things much simpler.

Sounds like she is just being protective mama cat. When I was up in PA, my Mom's Mama Kitty was that way too. She was the friendliest cat to people, but if one of the dogs got too close to her babies, she'd go all ninja cat on them. They could be close to her and she never had a problem with them, but the second they got too close to one of the babies, watch out! Neither of the dogs would've hurt the kittens as they are both very used to being around cats, but Mama Kitty didn't know that and acted accordingly. She started relaxing as they got bigger, although she was right there just waiting to jump in if needed.
