Does anyone know where I can order heartworm meds for my dog w/o a prescription?

As far as I know you won't be able to get them without a prescription.

Heartworm meds kill infested dogs, so the vet's job is to be sure that the dog is either heartworm free, or that the load is small enough to be treated this way.

:yes An annual blood test should run less than $20, but if you keep your dog current on hw prevention, your vet may be willing to write a script without running the test.

If a dog has undetected heartworms, the hw prev. will kill the heartworms which will then literally clog the arteries and cause very very painful death. Heartworm treatment involves medications based on the stage of hw infestation and extremely limited activity to help prevent pulminary embolisms...even then it is extremely risky.

All from one little infected mosquito. :crazy2
