got my new laptop--need urgent help

Dell Latitude E5500. It's a replacement/exchange under my warranty.

I type *fast* and my whole page will highlight and delete, or close completely, or open up random boxes/windows/menus. Or freeze :banghead Using backspace to erase/correct words deletes a letter then a word then the whole paragraph :jawdrop

I had this whole detailed post typed out and the page shut, so I'm very slowly begging for help :doh

Did you accidentally turn on the "sticky keys"?

Yep. Sticky keys. AKA my insanity buttons.

Press SHIFT five times to turn sticky keys on/off (a window will pop up asking to confirm)

Left ALT+left SHIFT+NUM LOCK to turn mouse keys on/off

NUM LOCK for five seconds to turn toggle keys on/off

ARGH!

I'm on the desktop because in trying to turn off the quickstart etc I turned off the mouse buttons and I.CANNOT.USE.THE.MOUSE.CLICKER :banghead

I plug a keyboard and mouse into the USB of my laptop cause the keyboard makes me MENTAL. I know, not helpful, but just feelin' your pain. :hug

Crystal you should be able to tab through them...see if you can tab to highlight the windows start button to reach the Ease of Access Center. Also if you have another user on the computer it might be easier to tab to Switch User, then try making the changes.
