to remove crayon and/or lipstick? Obviously I shouldn't leave the steam on it for very long, but would it damage the drywall or paint for just a couple seconds?

I have. :shifty It only works/is safe on gloss/semi-gloss finish.

Only very carefully and if they were well painted (not contractor paint)

Don't do it on wallpaper!

I think some steam mops have attachments that can do countertops and carpets and maybe vertical surfaces. I think I'd be so nervous about a steam burn, I wouldn't want to try without a specific attachment! My Haan specifically says in the directions to only put on a horizontal surfaces.

Only attempt it if you have a gloss or semi-gloss paint! Flat paint will come right off.

The idea makes me nervous but I don't have any personal experience with steam mops.

:think What if you just use your iron & "shoot" some steam onto the messy surface from an inch or two away? Or a use a very hot, wet washcloth.
