I have the black one - the background is almost tan - a kind of antique white look to it.


The bedskirt and sheets are brown. I'm mixing black and brown. Some people think I'm crazy - but I like it. :shrug3


I've been drooling over pillows on Etsy by "Olive" for ages and am in love with this one: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=33255711 Do you think it will go with the bedding knowing that I am already using brown with it all? Or is too much pattern?

Love love love the duvet cover. I agree with prov and wouldn't put them together either. That's too much pattern for my taste.

I ultimately decided not to get the pillow because I agreed it was too much pattern.

hmm...good idea, but, the only chair in my room is at a desk and wouldn't really showcase the pillow. So, not worth it.

I have always been afraid of mixing patterns, thinking it would look too much, but an interior decorator once gave me some advice that I have found to be true over and over whenever I have faced decor dilemmas like this:

Mixing patterns can work really well, but don't mix the same TYPE of pattern. So floral is good mixed with stripes or spots etc. but not different kinds of florals together.

For example:
You have a floral pattern duvet. Get a spotted/striped etc. pattern cushion, but not a different floral pattern.

If you want to get something patterned I would see if I could find a striped cushion if I were you. My bedding is the opposite way around - I've got a striped duvet with floral cushions.
