Folding table for dining room?

We need a dining room table. We had one a few years ago but I decided we never ate at it, so I chopped the legs down and made it into a train table that the kids never use.... Well I am sick of us always eating on the couch or floor, so I really want an actual table now... The only thing we have right now is one of those 6 foot folding tables with metal legs and a fake wooden looking top... Like the ones I had in school for lunch tables... Would it be tacky or an otherwise bad idea to use this as our table? Should I do anything to it? If i do, is is silly to use a tablecloth on it to cover the ugly legs??
