I have a dear friend's housewarming party to attend this weekend. I don't have a lot of $$ (we're broke right now), but I thought maybe I could make her something for less $$. Any suggestions? This is her first house, although she's lived on her own off and on since college. (Medical issues kept her at home with her parents until now). Anywho- what can i make her and get it done before Sat afternoon?

How crafty are you? You could make a "please remove your shoes" sign. Make it to match the colors in her home. Or buy a terecota pot and paint it and put a plant in it.

Coasters is a good idea - i'll check ravelry for ideas.

I have some light green cotton, maybe i'll make some washcloths with her initials :think

Sadly, i don't know her colors. I've not been to her home yet.

But i like the plant idea too.

when i want to make a good impression with little $$, I do the plant. make sure it's in a nice neutral holder, perhaps with a big bow, and nice yet simple wrapping...but i am not crafty at all so my cheaper options are limited :)

these coasters are fun to make and the stitching makes them interesting without having to piece anyting:

I also like your washcloth idea. But for a kitchen/housewarming I'd make them more handtowel sized so she can use them to dry hands or even dishes. Just a stack of three with maybe a fancy bottle of dishwashing detergent would be a very thoughtful gift.

how about dryer balls? just use wool yarn (from the yarn store or from an old sweater), wind into a ball and felt in the washer on hot inside an old pair of panty hose.

i decided upon a dish soap apron with a nice bottle of dish soap. My MIL has one that is adorable, I've always admired it. Her mom had made it for her. So...that's what I'm doing. :) I'll post pics when I'm done.

If it's a house she moved into, a few packets of seeds and a trowel would be cute.

ETA: Sorry, for some reason I didn't see what you had already done. Very cute!

That's cute! Did you do yesterday? If so, good job! You're a lot faster than I am! :)
