View Full Version : Pre Breakfast Snack Ideas?

I am after some ideas for pre-breakfast snacks.

I need something for my kids to nibble on while they are waiting for breakfast to be prepared. I don't really want to give them dried breakfast cereal, as they have cereal for breakfast, and often as a snack later in the day (with dried fruit).

Preferably, something that is easy to prepare and can be left out overnight so that it is ready to go first thing would be ideal.

Thanks!

Natalie

If we need snacks before breakfast we give bananas.

Ours is always fruit because that is quick and then by the time they are done with it I have breakfast ready usually and then I don't serve fruit with breakfast (since they just had it).

Mine have always helped with breakfast. So, they snack alongside. How old are they?

I keep a couple of bowls of fruit in the kitchen. My kids can always grab those. We have started doing cold cereal because they can all do it themselves. I put the cereal in a big glass cookie jar and there is a scoop in it.

I think some moms give a lighter breakfast and probably end up giving a morning snack or their children eat more later in the day. The ones that need a snack while they are fixing breakfast are probably like my kids: big eaters for breakfast and lunch and rarely eat much after lunch time. So... I make a big breakfast, I mean not REAL big but fruit, eggs, bagels and peanut butter that sort of thing. I do this just because they are really hungry and if I don't do that I'll just be feeding them all morning long and it won't end up being as healthy because I'll be grabbing quick things.

kefir, almond milk, fruit or cheese

We finally figured out that E can't handle a big breakfast right after she wakes up, so we often do a snack, then bigger breakfast, or a small breakfast and big, early lunch.

If I'm making a "real" breakfast, like pancakes or something, I'll give DS raisins or a banana to snack on while he waits. Otherwise, I try to keep breakfast quick and easy - sunbutter on a rice cake, yogurt with some cold cereal mixed in, or scrambled eggs.

My littles often eat leftovers for breakfast. They don't know your "suppose" to eat sweet stuff. I make sweet potatoes a few weeks a night. So, they might have some chopped sweet potato, avocado, a few crackers, some thawed frozen berries, some frozen peas.

In the winter, they might have some oatmeal if I have already fixed it.

In the summer, they might have some smoothie if I had already fixed it.
