My mom just made me one from simplicity. Its simple :giggle Elastic waist , full and just below my knee. I love the pattern!

She made the first one. The skirt is in the wash right now. She also made it without pockets so its even easier. She's making me two more in the same style. I can't remember one of the fabrics, but the other is white with lemons on it. So fun!

I just (Well, mom just made for me with my help :giggle) two skirts from my old jeans. The first one we tore out the inseam and put in a triangle piece of fabric to make a skirt, and the second one we cut off the jeans right below the back pockets and added a gathered length of fabric. I love that one right now-it's so lightweight! The other one will be wonderful come winter.
I also found (but can't find again right now! :mad) a free online calculator to make a tiered, gathered skirt. Try googling peasant skirts and you might find it-anyway, it gave you exact measurements for each section in order to have a nicely symetrical tiered skirt. I've wanted one of those forever, but I was so worried about the measurements, and patterns/free instructions are hard to find in my size.

My favorite skirt pattern is an A-line skirt with yoga waist. Very easy to do.
