I have pieces of unfinished quilts that my great grandma started. TBH, we have enough blankets plus an aunt who quilts now & my mom who crochets. Some of the unfinished quilts aren't that nice, but I love this one.

It could probably be made into a table runner based on the size & shape of it, but it doesn't fit our style & I don't want more unused useless stuff.

So I thought about making it into a skirt with a drawstring waist so it would fit me no matter my size

There is plenty of material for it to be really full, even on my current size. It would probably go a bit past my knee. I would hem it so that it was uneven at the bottom just like the current shape.

What do you think? Good idea? Bad? Silly? Totally unstylish? Cute? Etc. I don't want to *ruin* something she made, but at the same time I would like it to be useful. So you can also hit me with other ideas. ;)

I think that's a great idea. Next time I get in crafty mode, I might consider doing that with an unfinished quilt section I have stored around here somewhere. :)

Love the idea - just be sure to finish the seams inside and line it to protect the pieces when washing. Your grandma did lovely work.

I would totally do it...and I wouldn't even out the hem. I'd probably just leave it like your are literally wearing an unfinished quilt...add some sort of binding at the bottom or rick-rack sort of thing. Although, thinking it over, it might be easier to just even it out.

Yes, line it! I made a cute strip dress for M and didn't line it...it's totally coming apart because there is nothing to protect it. I learnt my lesson (as my gmil would say).
