I can't believe how much I love knitting. I only started because it's something I have always wanted to learn. I started on my trip to see my Grandma and now I am obsessed! I have done two hotpads and now I'm almost done with a scarf! :woohoo It's so relaxing! I have been taking every spare moment I have and knitting away. It's actually makes me more patient with the kids. I can still be present but not rushing them through something. Like during homeschooling time, I was always trying to encourage my ds to umm..."Focus!!" But now I am not in a hurry. It also makes my dd come up with her own play more often. And I am not rushing them through meals. I just sit and knit. I love it.
I am hoping to make 9 scarves for Christmas presents before the baby is born. I made this scarf in under a week so I think I can do it.
The only trouble I am having is that I don't know how to finish it. I just pulled the needle out and tied off the first hotpad. :O And the second hotpad is still on the needles. :O :O And I am nearing the end of my scarf so I really am going to need to know how to finish it. I've tried to search but I'm having trouble finding one that makes sense to me.
Oh and I want to publicly thank MOS for showing me how to cast on. :hug

I tried that one and I couldn't find what I was looking for, but I ended up looking at my book again. I had to try a few times but I got it! :woohoo I will finish my scarf tonight or tomorrow! I'm so excited!

There is also a great blog http://techknitting.blogspot.com/ that I really like. It has lots of helpful hints and tips on how to do things.

I love YouTube for knitting helps. I've learned so many things on there.

:rockon I love knitting, too. I searched for and tried so many other crafts, and was no good at any of them. I never even found anything I *wanted* to do. I feel like knitting is "my thing". I wish I had started earlier, I feel like I was meant to knit. :)

So, what are you working on right now? I'm on my second scarf! This one will only take me about 4 days, I think. :rockon Then only 7 more to go! :giggle

knitting is quite awesome!

but, I must sheepishly admit that I love to do quick projects. I just am not a sweater kind of girl! :heart

we need a knitting icon! :shifty

We do need one! :yes
I plan to stick to scarves for a while. :giggle I only know how to cast on, knit one kind of stitch and cast off. I am hoping to do a blanket for my mom at some point though.

I'm working on wool shorties for Nolan for summer. I'm on my 4th pair, and plan to make at least 2 or 3 more. :)

:yes I used to do cross-stitch before kids, and found that crocheting/knitting projects are MUCH easier to pick up/put down/pick up again in little spurts. Much more conducive to mothering littles :lol. Now that they're older, I might get back to finishing the last sampler of a 4 part series I started about 9 years ago -this one (http://www.victoriasampler.com/Catalogue/VS_Samplers/p03white.aspx) :lol!

I love those icons...where do we find them?

I must admit that I have frogged mittens too. I just don't like knitting with four different needles.

I do love knitting in the round. I think that is my favorite.

Right now I am working on dd's winter hat for next year's stocking.
