when, after completing an entire week of a housecleaning routine, your four year old runs from room to room then exclaims:

"Wow, Mommy! The house looks WONDERFUL! It's so CLEAN! Thank you, Mommy, for cleaning the house so I can run and play and not trip over anyt'ing."

:shifty Not saying mine just did anything, but, hypothetically, y'know, if your four year old did this, chances are your house was in pretty bad shape. :shifty

That's how I get my older two to help clean up - "No, you can't get that toy out - there's no where to play!!! Let's pick up toys first & the you can keep playing" :yes

:shifty :no never here either! I haven't spring cleaned this week for DS1 to go downstairs with Daddy this morning and tell him, "Daddy, look, it's all tidy here all day long!"

I remember when my children were at their grandmothers for a weekend and DH and I declutterd a bit and cleaned while they were gone.
When they got back, they ran through the house, jumping up and down, saying it was just like "Extreme Home Makeover".

Not the house, but you know your minvan was bad when you go to visit your ILs, they meet you at the airport and see you to your minivan rental while your 4 year old looks inside and then rushes to you as you stand next to your MIL and says

"MOMMY! LOOK! THEY GAVE US A NEW CAR THAT IS CLEAN INSIDE MOMMY! LOOK! THERE'S NO FOOD ANYWHERE AND NO DIRT AND NO PAPERS! I CAN SEE THE FLOOR IN HERE MOMMY! WOW!"

Again, just a *hypothetical* statement from a *hypothetical* 4 year old that would indicate perhaps your minivan at home needs some work. :shifty

:giggle Dd told me that the bathroom was "too stinky" and when I cleaned it she said "THANK YOU FOR CLEANING THE BATHROOM, MOMMY!" for a week afterwords, every single time she used it. :shifty

It's bad when you 2yo sees you mopping and asks "Who's coming over, Mama?". :lol
