I have a friend who is a single mama. She doesn't have lots of money to get a real estate agent but she needs to sell her house. But she doesn't know how to sell by owner. Could you help me help her if you know. Does she just put a sign in her front lawn or what is the best way to do this?

Start by putting a sign in the yard. Make up an information sheet with interior pictures, all the stats and prices and put it out there too. There are several places you can list it for free -- craigslist, owner.com, and more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

For a fee you can list it with websites that specialize in for sale by owner homes and even list it in the MLA.
