Alright, let's get started.

And just in case there are some newbies, a 5 minute challenge means that you get up from the computer, set a timer for 5 minutes (or not ;) ) and clean something. Then you come back & post what you did so that this thread comes back in our "new replies" and encourages :shifty us to get up & do more.

I vacuumed living room and entry, so I am changing my "vacuum downstairs" to "vacuum dining room" now.
I have been bending over and squatting way too much to get things up and down off the floor, and take the wand/attachments in and out, so I am seriously exhausted now and am taking a long, long break though. I will probably make and eat lunch, and then do school and then maybe start again.

dinner is in the oven. i'll have a block of time while the kids eat to work on dining area and kitchen and desk. and then after dinner the kids will help me clean up toys. :yes gigi had a bag of little people "put away by mommy" the other day. i think she believes me now that if she doesn't help, i'll put the toys out of play for a while.

Jennifer, my 8yo ds has lost all of his toys except Lego and markers because his room was just getting outa' hand. I'm not sure if he is any better at keeping his things picked up, but at least there is less to deal with.

I'm making progress on my list, but I need to leave in half an hour to spend almost 2 hours pool-side, then rush to get dinner on the table and then to a cake decorating class. I'm thinking the laundry room and garbage collection will have to wait for tomorrow. I'll also make scalloped potatoes tomorrow and just heat up a casserole I set aside in the freezer for days like this. It's a good thing I can be so flexible. ;) It doesn't look like I got much done, but I also decluttered a box of toys and washed the floors. :tu

usually just the threat of mommy putting toys "away" will get her moving. and you know she hasn't even asked for them. i know alot of minimizing her toys is my reluctance as well as hers :sigh i don't want to get rid of the toys that i wanted for them :blush

:phew RiverRock That sound fun but hectic. Have you taken cake classes before? Please share what you do in the cake decorating thread.

I have not been online most of the afternoon and early evening here, so this of course took longer than 5 minutes, but
I did manage to vacuum the dining room. I also managed to run a second load of dishes since the dishwasher was already full. Also, the kids went to refill the soap dispenser in their bathroom and got a little carried away, so I told them to clean it up by themselves. They put everything in their bathroom away and then they cleaned the counter, mirror, sink, and floor. It was nice and shiny, even though I know it probably has soap residue, I was pleasantly surprised. DH called and said he would be stopping in to eat dinner with us before he left again if I could have it ready. I had nothing planned, but I whipped up a quick chicken cacciatore with pasta and some salad and rolls. He was here long enough to eat and leave, but he said some nice things about the house. He said 'it looks like you all are on top of things. I should strand you here without the van more often. "

Anyway, I just unloading the second load of dishes and then loaded it with our dinner dishes. I also have already washed all of the pots/pans, and the table is clear and wiped off.

I have been folding and putting away laundry. I can't believe how much laundry I have to do.

Just updating my list so I can see what I still need to do.
I feel like I did a lot, but at the same time, it is frustrating because I feel like all I did was housework.

Empty dishwasher
load dishwasher did this twice!
clean kitchen table and chairs
sweep kitchen floor
vacuum dining room
5 minutes on each dining room hotspot
fold and put away laundry
wash new laundry
work on kid's rooms Made a little progress, still a lot to do!
start working on linen closet-- this is going to have to wait for DH, I think.
