OK, back to this again. I so badly need this, too!!!

So, get up, set the timer for 5 minutes, clean something & then come back & post what you did so that this pops back up in new replies which makes everyone get up to do more in their house. :)

And if you want to post goals today, please do so. I know I will be.

;) i've had to redo a load or two after evie has changed the settings :yes they would either have alot of fun together ... or teach eachother new tricks :P~

made and cleaned up after breakfast - gigi helped sweep up the cheerios!
emptied dishwasher and put dirty dishes in - evie helped... and then climbed on the door :rolleyes
did some reading for my Bible study and feel i was reprimanded...
Proverbs 14:23 In all labor there is profit,
But idle chatter leads only to poverty
think maybe my messy house that i am unhappy in/with is my poverty :think

I just realized how much I love the goals for the day. Making that list and then getting to cross off something, gives me so much more satisfaction than just listing what I have done.

Mental note to self: Start making lists...

Evie & S would likely teach each other new tricks to keep their moms on their toes even more than before!!

cleaned microwave & top/outside of stove

I have to rave about my new steam vac! Daddy got it for me for Christmas and it rocks my sock drawer. Mom got one 10 yrs ago - same brand, older version than the one I have. It lasted 8 yrs before it gave out. You should have seen the junk that I got out of carpet... it was so gross and strangely satisfying.

:yes We bought one a while back. It is amazing how much gross stuff lives in our carpet. :sick Yuck, yuck, yuck!!! All the pets we have just make it worse, but even so the amount of dirt that thing sucks up is incredible!!!! I need to steam vac the entire house again.....

Our family decided that we really need to take today off (DH's day off) and try to do the least amount of work possible. I'm rearranging my homekeeping schedule this week and this is what I'd like to get done today:

play, play, play with the children - my number one priority for today
kitchen cleaning - counters, appliance fronts, cabinet fronts, stovetop, floor
library
menu
start grocery list for tomorrow's shopping trip
decide on a day to take down Christmas decorations
make beds
general tidying

If I have time, I will work on bathrooms. Otherwise I'll put them on the list for tomorrow.
main bathroom cleaning - sink, toilet, tub, mirrors and floor
second bathroom cleaning - sink, toilet, floor

Oooh, I love lists!

quick tidy of master bedroom/nursery
15 minutes of master bedroom closet organizing
quick tidy of pantry
finish sorting through boxes of odds and ends hidden in kitchen pantry (this is a doozie!)
organize and set aside items that need to be returned or gifted
return and gift these items
make shopping list and meal plan...then go shopping
organize kids' music books (lessons start today after 3 weeks break)
collect laundry and start washing if more than 2 loads...otherwise wait until evening to start.

Well, after having it on my "list" every day since last Monday, my kitchen floor is finally clean!
I do not have a mop that I like, so I always put it off. I have really been wanting a steam mop, but don't want to buy yet another mop that I wind up just wasting money on.
So, I was reminded of my steam vac by Lily and Kimberly, and I decided to use that.
It worked great, and got all the stuck on, sticky, yucky stuff off the floor with absolutely no back breaking work!
:dance
All I have to do now is take a rag to the edges, and being on my hands and knees for 5 minutes will be good for me.

klpmommy
01-12-2009, 10:07 AM
really, the steam vac worked on the kitchen floor? I might start mopping more often after all. :shifty

fixed lunch for the kids, getting ready to work more on the kitchen. :sigh It is a never ending job.

I'm going to have to try the steam vac instead of the mop. I have 4 different mops and hate each one in it's own special way.

Did you use the regular carpet cleaner stuff or did you use floor cleaner? Did you change any of your settings (I think mine has diff settings for carpet height)?

I have 4 mops, too, and I have the same relationship with them, LOL.
Please keep in mind that I have vinyl floors in my kitchen that has scratches already. I don't know how I'd like using it on wood or laminate or tile.
I have a bissell, and it probably does have different settings, but I am not aware of what they are. I did not change anything. I just put water and a little vinegar in the bladder that holds the water, and then set the cleaner/water ratio to all water so that no soap came out.

klpmommy

I have ceramic tile, but I am going to try it. Ceramic tile is pretty tough when it comes to water. I wouldn't try it on wood. I'll let you know what I think! The best method otherwise is the hands & knees with a wet rag one, & I hate that. :sigh
