Dehydrator - what & how long?

I got a dehydrator at a yard sale for $1 :rockon and it works, just no manual.

My question, what sort of things can you dehydrate, how long to run it, and how long does food last? :shifty I think I've been scared to try :shifty

anything, cut it up thin, put it in for as long as it takes to dry it (gosh, that could be anywhere from what, 4hours to a few days...)

I use mine for fruits, veggis and raw foods recipes, but you can dehydrate meats too.
