The bread in my bread machine bakes and tastes fine, but is so messy to eat--turns into crumbs real easily. Does anyone have a bread machine recipe for bread that holds together better when eaten (like store-bought bread does)? Bonus if it is all or mostly whole wheat (not white). We cannot have any dairy or nuts in the recipe.

I can't figure this out...it's not drier than store-bought bread. Maybe it's all their weird unhealthy ingredients that keep it from crumbling?

I know this thread is a little old, but I saw it and thought I could help. I use this recipe from the Bread Beckers and get great bread. We use it mostly for sandwiches and toast. If you haven't found something else that works, give it a try. :grin ~HTH
