Yup. I bet its sesame seed (tahini). Did you dose her with bendaryl? Has she had it before?

I'm so proud of you for her big messy snack! :rockon :giggle :kiss She's so gorgeous. :heart

I can't see anything in the pics on my puter...maybe a little pink around her chest? My video card is going bad. :O I think I've read that some kids can be sensitive to tahini (sesame seed paste).... :think

some on her chest (she had hummus on her chest) and especially in the last pic you can see near her eye where it's "normal" colored skin and on her cheek where it's red. It was bright red, and raised and it's now going away after some benedryl.

:haha I just caught that! She's a totally independent eater :rockon In fact (I shouldn't tell anyone this!) there's an orange ring in the tub from last night's spaghetti dinner :haha I told Matt it would have been MUCH easier to scrub it out last night than today! (I was at work :giggle)

I think its a 'sensitivity' rather than allergic reaction tbh. Sandy's skin did that to hummus (and berries and tomatoes/sauces) until she was maybe 1 1/2 or so... and then her 'sensitivities' went away, she doesn't react at all now. :)
She's soooo cute!!

She sometimes has the same skin reaction if she's particularly messy with raw tomatoes, and she's broken out from strawberries, too.

So if she has it on the outside, she's not necessarily hurting on the inside, right? :nails

It depends. It may be that the lemon juice or garlic or both in the hummus has burned her skin. It may be that it's an allergic reaction, and can cause as much inflammation on the inside as the outside. The skin, though, is way more sensitive to pH changes than the stomach.

(Vinegar burns Samantha a -lot- like that. So does salsa, with its hot peppers.)

If she's reacted to tomatoes and strawberries before, I bet it's the lemon juice.

It could be allergic, but really I think its skin sensitivity, and no her insides should be fine! You could get her allergy tested (I forget how old she is, its more accurate, apparently, after 18 months). I might just wait on those things for a while and reintroduce them after a while.
