I am trying to get the kids eating more fruits and veggies. I just don't have time to stop what I am doing to peel apples or whatever they are wanting at that momment. I would like to peel and cut them in the morning and have the available for the kids to grab as they feel the urge. They love apples, but only if they are peeled and sliced.

how do you keep them from turning brown immediately?

any tips for any fruits and veggies are appreciated.

Dip/spray them in lemon juice.

I do a quick rinse of them in some orange juice or keep in a container with a little salt water and they don't brown.

a lemon type soda will also work in a pinch.

I"ve found that if I put them in a ziploc bag, they don't turn brown. I've left them on my counter for two days without browning. Of course, that's at the beginning of the apple season. By right now, they are all a little brown and mealy.

I am trying to limit use of ziplock bags, but for this thing, I LOVE them!
