I've been thinking about learning to knit. How do I get started? What are your recomendations on supplies? Anything else I need to know?

http://www.knittinghelp.com/

is a great place to start.

i got a full kit of knitting stuff on ebay from someone who had knit for years so i was lucky. but maybe nip to your local craft shop and buy maybe a size 4 and a size10 and some yarn and work through simple cast on and tips from the link ive posted.

then join ravelry.com!!! :tu :) lots of free patterns etc...

also come back and ask for help anytime. :)

persevere it can be complicated but its so great once you get the hang of it!

Lula has great advice!

I bought a "learn to knit" kit from Target - it came with a DVD that was SOOOOOO helpful! I bought some needles on eBay, and some nice yarn from some WAHM (forget who). And also with the help of www.knittinghelp.com I learned very quickly! You can totally do it!

And if you ever need any in-person help, just find a local yarn store and they're really great at helping you with what you're doing!!! (And often they give lessons.)
