Why?
*Our 20-year-old AC unit is still broken and needs to be completely replaced-costing roughly $3,000-$5,000 (while we are coping with Florida's humidity) It seems to be getting hotter every week.
*The plumbing ruptured, and the carpet in the hallway is soaked- which means that we would have to take a jackhammer to uproot the cement flooring underneath the carpet. (Since the plumbing is underneath the cement. There is no telling how much this will cost, although dh thinks it could cost another few thousand.
*We are still battling the flea problem. I worry with the wet flooring the eggs could ferment and we would be overwhelmed with fleas.
*The water softener is broken.
*We still have no dishwasher and no garbage disposal.
Spending money to get these things fixed means a strong possibility that we won't be able to afford surgery (at least not now) so we can have kids. (Long story.)
