Anyone use one? How do you have it set up in your house?

The dryer makes our house so hot in the summer when it is raining. Usually I dry the clothes outside but we are looking at 3 days worth of rain coming and I can't wait 3 days to wash clothes it would be totally overwhelming then. At one load a day it is managable.

Do you use a pulley system? How's it work?

I haven't done this recently, but when we first married, before kids.... we had a big house with a spare room. We could only afford the washer no dryer. So, we found something to tie line to at opposite sides of the room and hung everything in there.

Don't think I could do it now, not with 7 children. Too much laundry and no empty space big enough for clothes line. :giggle

I can see how with 7 children it would be quite a task inside. :yes

I do one load of laundry a day and am thinking of using the weird space on my second floor around the stairs. I guess I'll just see if Bart goes for it. :shrug

Do you have a basement?

Our basement is unfinished and has a big beam running along the middle of it (along the ceiling). I put clothes/diapers on plastic hangers and hook them to the beam.

I've also run a clothesline down there too in the winter when need be.

I use one but its so not impressive. I took some plastic rope and some nails with big heads and put the nails in the wall and tied the rope onto the nails back and forth until I ran out of wire.... its in my laundry room.... which is also where the heater itself is and it works great!

they sell retractable clothes lines that have multiple lines to maximize your space. I've considered putting one like this in our garage:

There's a little closet in my laundry room and I hang stuff from hangers in there. Makes it easier to go hang up the clothes in our own closets. You can also be little closet racks on wheels, which is what my mom uses.

If I had a basement or even a proper laundry room I wouldn't even be thinking twice about this. But, I don't. I have a laundry closet off our 2nd floor hallway. There is a landing kind of area but that is my sewing space. I like that multiple line retractable thingy. I'm just going to have to rethink about where to put it. :yes
