How to start composting

I want to try it. I have no idea where to begin. But if there's an easy way to start today, I have a bowl full of corn husks, bread, and corn cobs from dinner last night. :shifty So, I'm ready but with no direction! LOL

Do you have a corner of your yard you can make a pile in? There's lots of fancy stuff you can buy, but it's perfectly fine just making a loose pile. The disadvantages to that are it's relatively messy and it only makes compost in the center so you need a pretty big pile before it starts doing anything. It's easier if you get a special composting container but by no means needed.
