I think so. My mom used to leave them out all night for Easter and we never got sick :shrug

Yeah, DH's family always left out the Easter eggs, and we've done it too with no ill effects.

At 4 hours, you're right on the edge of being fine. :) Especially if they were sitting in hot water for part of that time.
