on the back of the bean bag it says to use either 1 lb of ham, ham hocks or smoked sausage.... well the grocery store only had large size hams that of course was more than we needed or that I wanted to spend (until I learn other things to make with it, then I could freeze some?) and smoked sausage(well I don't get it, thats another thread :giggle ), so I bought a package of salt pork.... but now I am wondering if that even work for flavor? anybody know....I've never made 15 bean soup before :)

Should be fine. People use salt pork to flavor beans all the time.
Let us know how it comes out.

yup should be fine. I think the last time I did it I used bullion actually because I didn't have any meat...
