View Full Version : Poultry Question
Is it possible to cook a bird in the crockpot? I know when it's in the oven, it's wise to baste every now and then, but I don't think that would work with a crock pot, because they work better when the lid stays on. :shrug Any thoughts?
I'm asking because I've never made a bird before and am quite intimidated... :O Any suggestions/tips??

Oh, it's really easy. :)
I put mine in frozen and just sprinkle poultry seasoning on top. 8 hours later it's delicious and falling apart. :yum No work needed!

:yes
And then you have a good beginning for your own chicken stock too.

Are you saying yes to the crockpot, or yes to Marynmunchkins? I'm confused... lol...
Yes, stock was my plan. :tu

I do a chicken in the crockpot frequently. It is much more moist and soft than in the oven. :yes
You don't have to worry about basting in the crock pot, because the lid keeps the moisture in as well as the heat.
