I was recently given 2 of my grandma's old cast iron skillets. They've been sitting in a drawer for nearly 4 years and have gotten a bit dusty and have a musty odor. I'd love to use them, but am unsure of the best way to clean them (I've heard you shouldn't wash them w/soap and water? :shrug). Also, once they're clean, how should I care for them?

My Great Grandma told me you can put them in a hot oven and burn stuff off.
And then you season it (either with veg. oil or something like bacon) and just add oil when it needs it and yup, don't use soap, just plain water and maybe a little elbow grease. ;)
I'm starting to really like mine, it's the only pan I use for eggs. :)
